Varanasi (Kashi) is one of the oldest living city in the world, which is believed to be holiest of all pilgrimages. It is a mythological legacy that Kashi is the original ground created by lord Shiva and Parvati, upon which they stood at the beginning of time. The traditional classical culture of Varanasi has always attracted a large number of pilgrims and worshippers from time immemorial. Varanasi is also renowned for its rich heritage & culture, music, arts, crafts and education. there are three famous universities and

approximate two dozens of degree colleges providing higher education for the students from india and abroad. Some of the world renowned exponents india has produced in these fields were schooled in Varanasi's cultural ethos. Varanasi is also playing an important role for imparting various measures for the treatment, education, rehabilitation and socio-economic empowerment of persons with disabilities.
Integrated Institute for the Disabled was established in 1993 for the welfare of persons with disabilities. More than 15 years of its journey towards excellence in service delivery has been facilitated by its value based vision, clarity and quality in its mission, fortified with conviction and commitment of a multi-disciplinary team and kind patronage of innumerable service users. The purpose of this institute aims at providing total care and rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities both qualitatively and quantitatively with the presumption that if the operation and management competence within the welfare services is improved, the delivery of total care will increase manifold within the available resources.
The organization also conducts various courses for human resource development in the field of disability rehabilitation and special education. All these courses have been recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India and affiliated to U.P. Rajarshi Tandon Open University, Allahabad, M. P. Bhoj Open University, Bhopal, Manipal University, Karnataka and IGNOU, New Delhi.
